There’s no denying that dogs truly are man’s best friend. With so many breeds, there aren’t that many people on the earth who don’t love dogs! August 26th is National Dog Day, so what better way to celebrate our furry friends than with a stunning hand-painted figure from John Beswick? We stock a variety of breeds and models, but here is a selection of a few of our favourites to help inspire you!

Black Labrador

The labrador has been topping the “Family Favourite Breeds” for over 28 years now, and it’s easy to see why! This adorable breed started out as duck retrievers, and after they were brought back to England in the 1800s, the British bred them as game-hunting companions. These high-energy pups are loving, loyal and very playful and trusting.

The John Beswick Labrador (black) would be a perfect gift for anyone who is a fan of this breed and has been handpainted to show a charming lifelike study.

French Bulldog

French Bulldogs have skyrocketed in popularity over the recent years, and it’s not hard to see why. These dogs are easy to groom and absolutely love affection, so if you want a cuddly pup, this might be the perfect breed for you! French Bulldogs are quirky, playful and full of energy, making them the epitome of a small dog with a big personality. Their small size and fun-loving nature make them great playmates for children, under supervision of course!

This beautifully crafted John Beswick French Bulldog figure captures the playfulness of this breed. Did you know that all of our dog figures come in a wonderfully presented gift box? This makes these adorable models the perfect gift for any occasion.

German Shepherd

Originally, German Shepherds were tasked with watching over flocks of sheep and herding them from field to field. That job required lightning-fast reflexes and an ability to run at top speed when needed. These days, this brave, loyal and highly intelligent breed is typically best known for its roles in the Police or Special Forces.

Their poised stance and unique black and beige colouring have been captured here in this life-like tribute to this great dog breed. Hand cast from ceramic and hand-painted, this figurine is an excellent addition to any dog collection.

Schnauzer

The word schnauzer originally comes from the German word ‘schnauze’, which means snouter. This was referencing the dog’s square and uniquely whiskered snout, which separates its phenotype from many other dogs. In the last decade, Schnauzers have become an incredibly popular dog breed. These funny little creatures are kind-natured, extremely loyal, perfectly sized, barely shed, and have that funny little beard and such soulful eyes.

Incredibly realistic, every detail has been taken on board here from the blend of soft greys to the glint in the Schnauzer’s eye. Capturing this breed's unique features, this John Beswick Schnauzer Dog makes for a fabulous addition to your mantelpiece or for someone who is a fan of this breed.

Summary

While we know this is only a small handful of beloved dog breeds, we stock many more at John Beswick. From firm favourites such as golden retrievers and talkative huskies to the uniquely shaped dachshund. These stunning figures are sure to make anyone barking mad for them and take pride in place in any home!
