Whoever wants to know something about me, they should look attentively at my pictures and there seek to recognise what I am and what I want.” - Gustav Klimt.

A little history…

Gustav Klimt was born in Baumgarten, near Vienna in Austria and he was the second of seven children – three boys and four girls. It is said that all three sons displayed remarkable artistic talent from early on. Klimt’s younger brothers were Ernst Klimt Junior and Georg Klimt and his father, Ernst Klimt, formerly from Bohemia, was a gold engraver.

Klimt lived in abject poverty for most of his childhood, as work was scarce and economic advancement was difficult for immigrants. In 1876, Klimt was awarded a scholarship to the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, when his life turned towards art.

Later in his career, Klimt continued to prove to be an influential artist. The paintings from his Gold Period, as well as structured landscapes he made just before his death, foreshadowed Art Nouveau and Cubism. Here at John Beswick, we pay homage to this artist through a number of products that depict his work beautifully.

Tealights

Tealights are the perfect option when you want to add dimension, colour and warmth to your home. They’re small enough to not be overbearing while adding delicate details to your shelves, tables and other surfaces. The Klimt Fulfilment Tealight showcases his stunning artwork perfectly in warm tones of browns, golds and reds. It is said the gold background gives the feel of earthly love while the theme of masculinity and femininity is shown by the angles of the male and curves of the female, a theme that is common in Klimt's work.

Mugs
